While our tomato plant is growing upwards a spray of the combined products 2 weekly dropping off to once a month at full height. (Similar for potatoes etc)

Use all the spray mixed up and any left over can be used on preferred plants such as roses etc.

Another aspect of this drench and spray program is curly leaf on stone fruit trees.

I remember some years ago we had a silicon based spray that some gardeners used on their nectarines and peach trees and reported that they had very little or no curly leaf because of the sprays.

At the time I did not realise that silica strengthens the cells of plants and could not fathom why it would help prevent the disease. Now I can see how it likely helped to do so.

If we take this aspect a stage further we could find that a number of pest and disease problems would be able to be controlled better by strengthening the plants.

The basic idea is sound so it’s a bit of experimenting this season.

The program provides a number of other benefits as well the armour-like protective layer in the outer cell wall.

Promotes more efficient photosynthesis, increasing sugar and mineral levels (brix) particularly orchard and vine crops.

Minimises the effects of manganese, aluminium and sodium toxicities.

Improves plant growth, lifting yields and quality. Improves pollination and increases pollen fertility.
